I spent some of my childhood in the 80's and early 90's living in Spain with my family due to my father's work. As many years have passed since then and my memory has become quite vague, I wanted to give shape to my memories of those days while also practicing my painting. This series Those Days (Anokoro, in Japanese) is a series of a short articles with illustrations that capture childhood memories of Spain. Since I was a child, my memories of school will be the main focus, but I hope you will take a look at them in your spare time.
Well, the memorable first time was when we flew out to Madrid, the capital of Spain. My parents told me that we were going to Spain, but since I was less than 2 years old, I could not pronounce Spain and my parents said that I was saying Chu-pein. And I asked my mother several times a day "Where we are going? Ask me!" and I enjoyed answering "Chu-pein!!" I'm ashamed of being like a child with a weak brain...
In the picture, my parents, my sister and I are on the plane, but in reality, my father had left for Madrid ahead of us to prepare for nesting. I was so excited about my first airplane ride that I was apparently running around the aisles. But I was cute, I was popular with the stewardesses (Cabin Attendant in the present).
What kind of fun life I will have in Spain?
