Lunch breaks in Spanish schools were long, as long as 3 hours, from 12:30 to 15:30. Because the company also has a 2 hour lunch break, some families go home and have lunch together. At school, students could go home at lunchtime or eat at the cafeteria and play freely on campus afterwards. I was the latter.
I did many things during the long lunch break. I played with my friends, and instead of being forced to participate in club activities like in Japan, I joined a free tennis school held on campus during lunch break with my friends. I also liked to be alone, so I brought my favorite miniature cars to school and played with them by driving them on the slopes of the school. I had several miniature Japanese cars, either bought when I returned to Japan temporarily every three years, or my father bought them for me when he went on business trips to Japan. One of my favorite miniature cars was the MAZDA RX-7, that I painted. The RX-7 was a cool sports car with a sleek body and retractable headlights, which are now banned. RX's name was similar to Kamen Rider (Masked Rider) Black RX, which was even better. I even ran not one but two miniature cars in imaginary races. My favorite miniature car was the FERRARY 288 GTO, which my parents bought for me when my family traveled to Monaco during the summer vacation. The GTO was a rather large miniature car, about 20 cm, so I did not bring it to school.
When I was a child, I was such a car enthusiast that I collected car cards and memorized the names of cars from all over the world, but when I grew up and wanted to own a car, I could not afford to own one because the maintenance costs were so high. I gradually lost interest in cars and now prefer motorcycles.
